Summit Shred Swap — Gear Manager Terms

Version 1.2 — Effective October 6, 2026

These terms cover gear managers on Summit Shred Swap. They are part of our Terms of Service; words defined there mean the same here. A Manager is a Member we have approved to run other Members' rentals. An Owner is a Member who has hired a Manager for their gear.

1. What a Manager does

A Manager takes physical custody of an Owner's listed gear and runs its rentals: answers renters' questions, accepts or declines requests, meets renters for every hand-off and return, keeps the condition record, and sets where and when renters meet. The Owner keeps the listing itself — the description, price, deposit, rider level, rental lengths and the days they want the gear themselves — and sees every booking and every message about their gear. One Manager runs all of an Owner's gear.

To become a Manager you must live in Summit County or an adjoining area, pass the identity check through our Payment Processor before applying, and be approved by us after we have spoken with you. We may decline or later revoke Manager status at our discretion.

2. The arrangement

The Owner offers a Manager a share of the rental price (their "cut"); the Manager accepts, counters or declines in the app; and the arrangement starts the moment both confirm in the app that the gear has physically changed hands. It ends the same way: either side ends it, the gear goes back, and both confirm. Bookings accepted before the end stay with whoever accepted them. We record each step with the date and time.

3. Money

The Renter pays the same price either way. At each hand-off, the rental price (plus any delivery fee) less our 5% Lender fee is paid out through our Payment Processor in the agreed proportions — the Manager's cut to the Manager's payout account, the rest to the Owner's — so the Lender fee comes out of both shares in proportion. A share whose recipient hasn't connected a payout account waits until they do. Deposits, late fees, damage charges and non-return charges belong to the Owner; the Manager files claims on the Owner's behalf. Late-cancellation and no-show amounts go to the Owner.

4. Responsibility

Between Owner and Manager, the Manager is responsible for the gear while it is in their custody — keeping it safe, dry and in the condition they received it, normal wear excepted — and for running the rentals honestly and on time. The Owner is responsible for the listing being accurate and the gear being safe and theirs to rent. The Manager is the Owner's contractor, not ours and not the Owner's employee; nothing here makes us a party to their arrangement, and the release in Section 24 of the Terms of Service covers Managers as well as Owners for anything arising from a rental. A Manager who mishandles gear, misses hand-offs or breaks the Community Standards loses Manager status and may be removed from the platform.

5. Approval and ending

We approve Managers by hand after speaking with them, and we can suspend or remove Manager status at any time. We may end any arrangement if either side is banned or suspended; the gear goes back to the Owner.
